“The Laramie Project” by members of the Lost Flamingo Theatre Company
“The Laramie Project” will be performed Friday November 19th and Saturday November 20th at Arts/West in Athens, Ohio by members of the Lost Flamingo Theatre Company. Tickets are $5.00 each and can be purchased at the door with cash.
“The Laramie Project” is set in and around Laramie, Wyoming, in the aftermath of the murder of 21-year-old Matthew Shepard. To create the stage version of “The Laramie Project,” the eight-member New York-based Tectonic Theatre Project traveled to Laramie, Wyoming, recording hours of interviews with the town’s citizens over a two-year period. The play dramatizes the troupe’s visit, using the actual words from the transcripts to create a portrait of a town forced to confront itself.
The play is not recommended for anyone under the age of 13 due to the nature of the show. Trigger warnings for the show include: Violence, Hate Speech, Homophobia, Hate Crime, racism, and themes of Mortality.
