Hocking College to host career showcase and financial aid help session
NELSONVILLE, OHIO – June 4, 2021 – Visits to college campuses have been difficult to schedule for the last year, but Hocking College is giving interested students a chance to explore their options with a career showcase and financing workshop on June 23.
The showcase — which begins at 10 a.m. — is open to anyone interested in learning more about the hands-on programs Hocking College offers.
“You can read and hear about career opportunities all you want, but you can’t really get a sense for it until you can experience it,” Joshua Moore, executive director of enrollment management, marketing and public relations at the college, said. “Once you’ve worked in the robotics lab, been through the medical patient simulator, gotten your hands dirty at the agroecology farm or experienced any of our other career opportunities you’ll be able to see how Hocking College can help you find the right career for you.”
From noon-4 p.m. a financial aid help session will be held for anyone who has questions about how to pay for college. Part of that session includes assistance in filling out or finishing the FAFSA form which helps determine the amount of free federal student aid a student is eligible to receive as well as what other types of financial assistance they’re able to get to help pay for college. Be sure to bring your 2019 taxes and your parent’s taxes if you’re under 25.
The college’s Hungry Hawk food trailer will be open during the event.
Hocking College offers more than 50 degree and certificate programs, nearly all of which last from 16 weeks to two years, some certificates can be completed in even less time, and on-campus housing is available for students of all ages.
If you’re interested in attending the showcase or financial aid help session, please register in advance at www.hocking.edu/showcase.
