Kelly says Lieutenant Steve Sedwick, Deputies Keith Tabler and Jason Kline were dispatched this morning to Cochran’s Sand and Gravel on Circle 33 Road.
When the deputies arrived they apprehended two males, a 19-year-old and a
16-year-old, both from Millfield.
Kelly says their vehicle was loaded with a set of aluminum running boards from one of Cochran’s dump trucks, a P-T-O drive from a truck, two pulleys, a large metal pin from a dozer, a drive from their sand machine, and a grease pump.
A third suspect, a 19-year-old Columbus man, ran from the truck. Lieutenant Sedwick ran after the suspect, lost footing and tore ligaments in his knee. Kelly says the suspect escaped.
Sedwick was treated at O’Bleness Hospital and released. Doctors expect him to be off duty for a few weeks.
Owner Charlie Cochran estimates the replacement value of the parts to be up to $4,000.
