Morning Sports Report – 10/28/2016

Dorian Brown rushed for a career high 212 yards on 29 carries and scored 1 touchdown to lead the Ohio University Bobcats to an upset victory over Toledo, beating the Rockets 31-26 last night at the Glass Bowl in Toledo. It was the first time Ohio has beaten their MAC West rival since 1988 – and it marked the first time in 49 years Ohio has won in Toledo when the ‘Cats beat the Rockets 20-14 clear back in 1967. Quarterback Quinton Maxwell passed for 159 yards and 2 touchdowns, including a 25-yarder to papi White to give Ohio a 21-13 advantage. Sebastian Smith caught 4 balls for 90 yards and a score and White ended up with 3 catches for 64 yards. With he win Oho took over sole possession of first place in the MAC East with a 4-1 conference record and improved to 6-3 overall. Toledo felt to 6-2 and 3-1 in the MAC.

The Athens County game of the week returns tonight on Power 105 when the Athens Bulldogs travel up Rt. 33 to face the Nelsonville-York Buckeyes for the outright TVC-Ohio championship. Brendan Sano rushed for 135 yards to lead Athens past River Valley last week to improve to (5-0) in league play. The Buckeyes meanwhile recorded their third straight shutout beating Vinton County 41-0 to remain perfect in the conference as well. Tonight’s important TVC-Ohio title game between Athens and Nelsonville-York can be heard live on Power 105 with pregame at 7:15 and the kickoff at 7:30.

The Cincinnati Bengals will be back in action Sunday morning when they take on the Washington Redskins in London England. A.J. Green’s one-handed catch in the middle of an end zone scrum highlighted Cincinnati’s day full of big plays, and the Bengals pulled away to another lopsided victory over their intrastate rival, beating the winless Cleveland Browns 31-17 las week. Cincinnati is currently 3-4 overall and tied for second in the AFC North. Washington is 4-3 and sitting in third in the NFC East. Sunday’s game can be heard live on 970WATH with pregame at 8:00AM and kickoff at 9:30.

The Cleveland Indians return to the baseball diamond tonight at 8:08 for game three of the World Series.Jake Arrieta was back in 2015 form Wednesday in Cleveland. So was Kyle Schwarber as the Chicago Cubs earned a 5-1 victory over the Indians to even the World Series at a game apiece. The teams had a day off Thursday before resuming the Fall Classic tonight at Wrigley Field. Kyle Hendricks will take the mound for Chicago in Game 3 against Josh Tomlin. Indians skipper Terry Francona has announced that Game 1 winner Corey Kluber will start Game 4 on Saturday in Chicago.
