City of Athens seeking 2019 Athena Award nominations


The City of Athens seeks those community members who have worked tirelessly on behalf of persons with disabilities. If you know someone or an organization, please nominate them for the 5th annual Athena Award. The Athena is the only award presented by the City and entries will be accepted up to Tuesday, October 1, 2019.


Recipients are recognized for achievement in one or more of the following in their work for people with disabilities: Improving their quality of life; advocating for issues; volunteering to have a positive impact; developing new programs or services; offering exceptional customer service; and demonstrating innovation or entrepreneurship that has a positive impact.

The Athena Award will be presented at a special event hosted by Mayor Steve Patterson and the Athens City Commission on Disabilities. The date, location, and event details will be announced.
